Tequila Industry Innovator Responds to U.S. Surgeon General's New Advisory on Link Between
clearsmdhlogo@4x.png

On behalf of San Martin de Hidalgo Tequila, we acknowledge the U.S. Surgeon General’s recent advisory highlighting the link between alcohol consumption and cancer risk. According to the advisory, alcohol consumption ranks as the third leading preventable cause of cancer in the United States. As a proud producer of high-quality tequila, we take this information seriously and support efforts to promote public health. At the same time, we believe in celebrating life’s moments responsibly, fostering a culture of moderation, and embracing a balanced lifestyle.

At San Martin de Hidalgo Tequila, we are committed to being transparent about these risks. We encourage our consumers to educate themselves on the potential health implications of alcohol consumption and to make informed decisions about their drinking habits. Public health is a shared responsibility, and awareness is a critical step in empowering individuals to make healthier choices.

Promoting Responsible Enjoyment

While acknowledging the risks, it is equally important to recognize that moderate alcohol consumption can be part of a balanced lifestyle for many people. The key lies in moderation and mindfulness. For tequila enthusiasts, savoring a responsibly crafted spirit like San Martin de Hidalgo Tequila can be an enriching experience that brings people together in celebration and connection.

We advocate for responsible enjoyment by:

  1. Encouraging Moderation: Limiting alcohol consumption to levels deemed low-risk by health professionals, such as up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men, as outlined by the U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

  2. Providing Clear Information: Including health warnings and serving size recommendations on our packaging to promote responsible use.

  3. Supporting Designated Drivers: Promoting the importance of having a designated driver or using rideshare services to ensure safe transportation for those consuming alcohol.

  4. Partnering with Public Health Initiatives: Collaborating with organizations that promote alcohol education and advocate for responsible drinking habits.

In conversation with Boris Ostrerov

Rarely do we get to explore new original art. Most of the works we experience in galleries, museums, and private collections are heavily inspired by previously created works, which of course inspires future artists.

We met artist Boris Ostrerov over a decade ago and while he is consistent with his style, he continues to innovate and push boundaries with his style of squeezing thick raw paint onto surfaces confined by rectangular boundaries.

According to Boris, "this physicality prepares the viewer for exploration and discovery and hints at the layers of the human psyche."
